The operation was completed, apparently with little resistance, less than three hours after allied troops launched an attack on the airport, an ABC News correspondent reported from the tarmac.

The correspondent, embedded with the Army's 3rd Infantry Division, reported seeing Iraqis waving and cheering as U.S. tanks rolled toward the airport, which is 10 miles southwest of Baghdad.
